Aluminum extrusions maker adding capacity in Ohio

Superior Aluminum Products, a maker of recycled-content aluminum railings, fencing, columns and column wraps, held a groundbreaking ceremony in honor of the company’s 50,000-square foot expansion at its facility in Russia, Ohio, also home of the company's headquarters.

The new addition represents a 45 percent increase in the facility’s current size and will create space for manufacturing and administrative offices, along with engineering, design, research and development and customer service functions.

Superior says many of its aluminum railing and column products contain 50 percent or more recycled material, making buyers eligible to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building credits.

The expansion in Ohio, which was supported by the Dayton Development Coalition, means the company will add 17 new jobs during the next three years in Russia, which is in Shelby County, Ohio.

“I know what the labor pool is in Russia and Shelby County, and it is known that these people are hard-working; they’re small-town, with Midwest farming community values and work ethic," Superior President Doug Borchers says.

Superior, a third-generation, family-owned business, says its “maintenance-free products" are ideal for commercial, municipal and industrial facilities, as well as single-family and multifamily residential locations.

In addition to using aluminum, the company has a line of fiberglass and polyvinyl chloride plastic building products.
